Pulmonary Embolism

Pulmonary embolism occurs when clots form in the deep veins in the leg, which usually break off, travel, and lodge in the pulmonary veins, causing partial or complete blockage.

Pulmonary embolism is considered an emergency condition because it prevents blood and oxygen from flowing to the lungs, which can lead to tissue damage and death.

  • Shortness of breath.
  • Feeling of pain or pressure in the chest.
  • Rapid heartbeat or rapid breathing.

Treatment of Pulmonary Embolism Using Interventional Radiology

Large pulmonary embolisms can be treated through catheter using interventional radiology. The catheter is inserted through the femoral vein and advanced to the pulmonary artery. Using specialized advanced devices, the doctor removes and dissolves the pulmonary emboli in less than an hour. Many patients have been treated successfully using this technique, demonstrating remarkable results.

Many diseases require surgical interventions to take a sample for diagnosis and determine the appropriate treatment, and these treatments may not always be successful and may have undesirable side effects.

Brain arteries can expand abnormally and bulge to form bubble-like structures, and several factors may play a role in increasing the likelihood of occurrence

Neck arteries are part of the blood vessels that supply the brain with the necessary blood, carrying oxygen-rich blood.
